April 11, 2021

Confirmation Class Begins April 11th-we are “pushing back” the original dates to hopefully allow us to meet together in person for some of this important work! Students in 6th grade and above are invited to participate in Confirmation, an 8-week program to learn about the meaning of Christian faith in preparation to be confirmed members in the church.  Confirmation for this group will be June 6, 2021 as part of our “Grand Graduation” Sunday!  Confirmation refers to the decision a person makes to respond to God’s grace by publicly reaffirming his or her baptismal vows before the congregation with intentional commitment. We call it “Confirmation” because we’re confirming our baptisms. Confirmands will “remember their baptism” (or, if they have not yet been baptized, anticipate their baptism) and learn about the baptismal vows that they will take or that were taken on their behalf. Confirmation is a way to claim and affirm the work done by the Holy Spirit in and since their baptism. During Confirmation class, Confirmands learn about the meaning of Christian faith, the history and teachings of the United Methodist Church, and an explanation of the baptismal and membership vows they will be professing. Confirmation preparation aims at leading students to embrace their vocation: the calling to live and witness to the reign of God announced in Jesus Christ. We work really hard to make each week’s class meaningful, giving the kids time to think and speak freely. Once you are registered we will share those details.  How do I register my child?
