Connect Class

November 1 through November 22 | 9:45-10:45 a.m. in the Church Office Conference Room

At Saginaw United Methodist Chuch we invite all who join us for worship and service to become members of our church. Church membership is not required to be part of our church community. However, becoming a member means making a commitment to growing as a Christian disciple through your participation in the mission and ministry of this church.

We offer a quarterly Connect Class to equip and inform those who are thinking about becoming members of SUMC and those who have recently joined. Church membership is essentially about choosing to belong. We want to help you understand what it means to belong to SUMC.

The next Connect Class will be offered November 1-22 from 9:45-10:45 a.m. in the Church Office Conference Room. If you can't make it to all the classes, that's ok! We hope you can join us for as many sessions as you're available.

November 1 – the Spiritual Life
What does the life of a disciples of Jesus Christ look like? We’ll learn about spiritual practices like prayer and study and how you can incorporate them into your daily life.

November 8 – Methodism and John Wesley
What is Methodism and where did it come from? What do United Methodists believe? What makes the United Methodist Church unique?

November 15 – Spiritual Gifts
Each of us are gifted by God to serve and share in different ways. This week we will take a spiritual gifts assessment and discuss how we can use our gifts.

November 22 – Membership at SUMC
What makes SUMC unique? How is SUMC structured? What does it mean to become a member and support SUMC with your “prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness?”

At the conclusion of the class, if there are those who would like to become members of SUMC, we’ll have the option for them to join the church as a group together.
