Project Transformation Volunteering

Project Transformation is a new ministry of the Central Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church to provide summer childcare to underserved children at three site churches in our area. College interns run the childcare each day, which is like a summer camp with academic components. Local churches support the college interns and Saginaw UMC has an opportunity for you to get involved!

Each day at Project Transformation, children who attend will be paired with a church volunteer to spend time reading together one-on-one. The invitation is for Saginaw UMC volunteers to sign up to come and read with kids during the week of July 17-20. We’ve committed to bring 7 volunteers each day, Monday through Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

SUMC volunteers do not need to commit every day. If you can only help on Monday, or only on Tuesday and Wednesday, that is ok. Volunteers do need to commit to being present for the full time on the day or days they volunteer.

SUMC volunteers will serve at University United Methodist Church in Fort Worth (2416 W. Berry Street). Volunteers can meet there at 9:30 a.m. or meet at SUMC at 9:00 a.m. to ride together in the church van. The volunteer opportunity is also open to youth, and anyone age 13 or older is welcome to participate. Volunteers will need to be Ministry Safe certified if they are not already.
